Beavertail Lighthouse Panorama

Arrived early hoping for a sunset shot but the clouds were too thick over head.  This is a five-shot panorama view of the lighthouse:

Sunset in Manhattan Panorama

Another panorama attempt of the Manhattan skyline.  Three horizontal, long exposure images taken from the Manhattan Bridge during sunset.

Manhattan to Brooklyn Panorama

Panorama attempt of the Manhattan skyline taken from the Manhattan Bridge.  Three horizontal, long exposure images stitched together.

Paul and Michelle’s Photo Shoot in Brooklyn

Michelle and Paul just recently got engaged and wanted some photos to mark the occasion.  So Igor and I got volunteered to try and be creative.  Luckily Igor has some experience in lighting and poses. We had a great sunset and used a single off-camera flash for most of these shots.  Didn’t have a chance

Verrazano Sunset

Caught a brilliant sunset behind the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York.  Taken from the Brooklyn side in a park long side the Belt Parkway.

Verrazano Sun Flare

Evening Downtown

Used a 10-stop filter during sunset to grab this long exposure image of downtown Manhattan.  Process with sepia tones.

Long Exposure of Castle Hill Lighthouse

This is a two minute exposure of the Castle Hill Lighthouse at sunset.  Used a 10-stop neutral density filter and blended two exposures to achieve this effect. The lighthouse is located behind the Castle Hill Inn in Rhode island.

Castle Hill Lighthouse at Dusk

This is another sepia-toned version of the Castle Hill Lighthouse.  It’s a long exposure image taken at dusk, and I left the beacon at it’s natural red color.

Sunset at Castle Hill Lighthouse

Took a one-night road trip to Rhode Island to try and attempt some sunset/sunrise images of two lighthouses there.  The weather ended up providing us with some decent clouds. This is the Castle Hill Lighthouse located behind the Castle Hill Inn in Rhode Island.  The image is a long exposure processed in sepia tones.

Sunset at Montauk Point

Visited Montauk Point with my niece and nephew to try and get some sunset images of the lighthouse.  The clouds disappeared quickly and we really couldn’t line up the lighthouse with the sunset in a way I had hoped.  The only images I ended up with that I liked were a few coastline shots. Here’s

Photographer at Sunset in Beavertail State park

This is an image of Zamen taken near the Beavertail Lighthouse just after sunset.  He was up on cliff and almost silhouetted against the colorful sunset. This image may be over-saturated but I still don’t think the colors give justice to the actual view that evening.

Beavertail Lighthouse in Rhode Island

This is a sunset image, taken with a 10-stop filter, of the Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown, RI.  We were up there during an AT&T hockey tournament near Boston, and decided to stay a few extra days for some photography. The rainy weather provided some nice cloud cover for the sunset.  This image is a 61

Empty Sky Memorial – Liberty State Park, NJ

As the sun set behind the Empty Sky Memorial, it created an amazing ring shaped reflection inside the granite pathway.  I used a 10-stop filter to try and lengthen the shutter speed, making the visitors appear ghostly in their movements.  If someone stood still, however, they would appear sharper in silhouette.

Timelapse – 1st attempt

Took about 157 timelapsed images of the sun setting behind the Tarrytown Lighthouse in New York.  One shot every 30 seconds over about 1.5 hours only provided enough footage for about a 4 second clip.  I slowed the video down to 15 FPS, resulting in a longer but choppier clip.   Some lessons learned:  Shoot

DPReview – “My Best Photo of the Week” challenge

Submitted this photo of the Tarrytown Lighthouse into the latest “My Best Photo of the Week” challenge on DPReview.  Took the image on a re-visit to Tarrytown with Grace and Greg.  The Hudson River was frozen and the sunset was perfect.

Tarrytown Lighthouse

Good timing at Tarrytown, NY with Greg and Grace.  The Hudson River was frozen and the sunset was spectacular.  Only had time to scratch the surface there and need to re-visit for more chances at the other locations.

Nobska Point Lighthouse

Sunset at Nobska Point, Massachusetts.  Thick and heavy cloud cover rolled in, but still the sun managed to peek through just before disappearing over the horizon. Nobska Point Lighthouse

DPReview – Blue Hour Cityscape Challenge

Just entered the “Blue Hour Cityscape Challenge” on DPReview.  Entered one of my long exposure photos taken from the Manhattan Bridge in December.

Little Cove in Rockport, MA
